FAQ

1. What do you like best about pentesting? – It’s one of the few jobs I can think of where people pay you to break into their systems, and point out their mistakes. If done correctly, they ask you to do it more. It also requires you to constantly learn new things which I enjoy a lot.
2. What certs do you recommend? – Any that you think you’ll learn something from, your company will pay for, and/or are required for your career path. I like certs because I like to learn, but I don’t put too much stock in them. I’ve known too many people with certs that actually don’t know anything. I have certs and I’m still very much a beginner.
3. Why do this blog if you’re just a beginner? – Because a lot of people smarter than me said it’s a good way to solidify the things you learn. To explain things to someone else well forces a deeper level of understanding.
4. I want to learn how to hack but don’t want to go to jail. How do I do that? – Thankfully there’s a lot of free stuff all over the internet. Check out the resource page
5. Can you hack XYZ for me? I’ll pay you lots of $$$$ – Nope. I don’t think prison is a great career path.
6. I’m 1337 and a much better H@x0r than you! – Great, post some material online so I can educate myself and be as awesome as you.
7. I keep losing my freaking car keys. What should I do? – Well I wear pants and keep my keys in my pocket. It works for me. It works for a lot of people. Try it … Unless you don’t wear pants. Then I can’t help.
